According to the NMMA (National Marine Manufacturers Association) which yesterday released their “Recreational Boating Industry 2017 Q1 Data Dashboard”, sales of retail units for traditional powerboats rose 5.9% for the twelve months through February 2017. Wholesale shipments increased by 3.6 percent.
Nearly all categories are growing on an annual basis. Sales of boats powered by outboards, inboards, and jet propulsion were all up, with only stemdrive-powered boats continuing to edge down.
The increase in Consumer confidence and relatively low gas prices were contributing factors to this increase.
The National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) is the nation’s leading trade association representing boat, marine engine and accessory manufacturers. Collectively, NMMA members manufacture an estimated 80 percent of marine products used in North America.
NMMA is a unifying force and powerful voice for the recreational boating industry, working to strengthen and grow boating and protect the interests of its member companies.
