A lowboy (low loader in British English, low-bed in western Canada and South Africa or float in Australia) is a semi-trailer with two drops in deck height: one right after the gooseneck and one right before the wheels. These typically have a loading ramp and are used for hauling heavy equipment.

A Drop Deck Flatbed is a platform semi trailer with no sides, no roof and no doors, and it has two deck levels. The floor drops down after it clears the tractor unit. The lower deck allows for hauling taller loads than a regular straight floor flatbed.
