SEMA 2019 has come and gone, but what did we take away from it? The week of the show was a busy one for DCI Solution, as was the week after, full of follow-up meetings and calls with people from the show. As always, SEMA 2019 was a very exciting and well-attended show. There were lots of exciting cars and vehicles to see, as well as fun things to do.
Two of the major highlights from the show included:
The National Auto Body Council Recycled Rides Presentation. Six refurbished vehicles were given to families in need in the Las Vegas area.
NABC Chairman of the Board Darren Huggins opened the presentation as he welcomed those in attendance. “Every year, this is the biggest event that we put on for all of those in the industry who support the work of the National Auto Body Council,” Huggins said. “I am so proud to be involved with this amazing program that has now given away more than 2,200 vehicles since its inception. Changing lives for these six families is what we’re all about, and it takes a collective effort of industry leaders to make it all happen.”
DCI Solution believes that this is one of the greatest programs we have in our industry and we are very proud to be part of this organization. The other highlight of the 2019 SEMA show was a beautiful tribute to Jesse Combs, Rapid City native, and friend, who met an untimely death this year doing what she loved best. She was a ground-breaking female in a male-dominated field, leading the way for women everywhere. A foundation has been set up to keep her spirit alive.
“Jessi Combs was an inspiration to the entire automotive community,” said Petersen Automotive Museum Executive Director Terry L. Karges. “This exhibit is an opportunity to move people, especially the future generation of women builders and enthusiasts, through Jessi’s incredible life story.”
