Will challenge Tesla in the high-end electric auto market

Out of the mouth of Sergio Marchionne, Ferrari’s CEO, who once said “they would have to shoot me first before Ferrari would make an electric car”, now says “If there is an electric supercar to be built, then Ferrari will be the first”. Ferrari under the Marchionne leadership has aggressive goals for both sales and profitability yet it must accomplish them without hurting the exclusivity of this famous Italian brand.

Still in plans to launch in late 2019 or 2020, is the first SUV from Ferrari (or as they term it FUV). This concept too has been an about-face for Ferrari who once exclaimed it will never make an SUV.

Ferrari will soon release their next five year plan which will include their strategy to adjust to a changing market and consumer, while still keeping the persona of Ferrari.

“What they do in the future could certainly affect the value of past, present, and future vehicles”, states Darren DiMaria, Co-Founder and Chief Client Officer for DCI Solution, “the name and reputation contribute significantly to the price people will pay”.

Electric vehicles is certainly a category an auto manufacturer cannot ignore even to the likes of a Ferrari. DCI Solution will continue to monitor and research this market and it’s effect on the value of related vehicles.
